My quest to play every game to have been #1 on the UK’s official games charts has taken me to the end of 1988. 1988 carried us kicking and screaming out of the 8-bit era. Well, at least for the OutRun was #1, but it’s a sign of things to come. I found 1988′s entries more interesting to write than 1987 for the most part, and I’m getting excited at moving further into a time of games that I remember, if not first hand, then 1-and-a-bit-th-hand.
All of 1988′s reviews in one place:
- Game, Set & Match (Ocean, Spectrum)
- Platoon (Ocean, Spectrum)
- Steve Davis Snooker (Blue Ribbon, Commodore 64)
- OutRun (Sega-US Gold, Atari ST)
- Target Renegade (Imagine, Spectrum)
- Football Manager 2 (Addictive, Spectrum)
- Daley Thompson’s Olympic Challenge (Ocean, Amstrad CPC)
- Barbarian II (Palace, Commodore 64)
- Last Ninja 2 (System 3, Spectrum)
Previously: 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987
Coming up next: Movies, movies, and probably the longest running #1 ever (which is a movie)…
