(Imagine/Taito, Commodore 64, 1988)
As a sequel, Revenge of Doh very much follows the mantra of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, offering very little in the way of changes from the original. All new levels, of course, a smattering of new power-ups, a couple of new types of brick, and the choice of two paths each time a level is completed. That’s about it as far as features that weren’t in the original. This absolutely pales in comparison to the vast swathe of new and exciting features brought to the genre by …TRAZ, even if you don’t factor in the level editor. And yet there is no question in my mind that Revenge of Doh is by far the superior game, and it’s all down to one simple factor: luck.
